Stephens and Grandfield Join FTC

BOSTON – May 5, 2021 – Fiduciary Trust Company, a wealth advisor and investment management firm for high-net-worth individuals and nonprofits, is pleased to announce the hiring of two new officers. Michael Stephens, CFP®, has joined as Vice President and Investment Officer and Sarah Grandfield, JD, as Vice President and Trust Counsel.

Early in his career, Stephens co-founded a New York wealth management firm and later served in senior roles at Boston area institutions including Eaton Vance, Boston Financial Management, and Emerson Investment Management. He has also contributed to the launch of several businesses and served in an advisory capacity for a number of local startups.

Grandfield joins FTC from Verrill Dana where she was a Partner in its Private Clients & Fiduciary Services Group,
advising high-net-worth individuals and multi-generational families on all aspects of estate and wealth transfer planning. She began her legal career as an Associate at Choate, Hall & Stewart. During law school, Grandfield worked at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Office of the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and as a student clerk for the Honorable David S. Tatel, U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

Stephens earned a BA in psychology from Columbia University and an MBA from Cornell University. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association and the Investments and Wealth Institute. He has earned the Certified Financial Planner® and the Certified Wealth Strategist® designations.

Grandfield is a dual graduate of Georgetown University, from which she earned both a BA in theology and government and a JD. Grandfield is a member of the American Bar Association’s Private Clients Division, the Boston Estate Planning Council, and the Boston Trust & Estates Consortium.
